A DBS Disclosure is the documentation which the police and government departments hold on an individual and that contains important information about any convictions or contact they may have had with the authorities.
The DBS Disclosure offers employers a means to check the background of candidates to ensure that they do not have a history that would make them unsuitable for the position that they are applying for.
They will provide relevant details of an individuals criminal record that is held on file. See a sample screening report.
This depends on what is applied for a Basic, standard, or enhanced check.
Criminal convictions: Details of any convictions, cautions, reprimands and warnings (UK convictions only), both current and spent.
Protection of Children Act: Details of whether the individual is on the Protection of Children Act and is banned from working with minors.
DBS Children's Barred List: Details of whether the individual is on the DBS List, and therefore subject to a ban from working as a teacher etc.
Supplementary Information: Additional Information from local police on the individual and from the Department of Education
Anyone can apply for a Criminal record Check on an individual. However, the person being checked will need to sign the application, in order to protect people obtaining background information on individuals without their permission. Call our CRB team on 0845 2578878
